G’ Veggie Burger

Ingredients:

-  1 can beans (I had Pinto beans at home but you can use Black beans)
-  1/3 Red Bell Pepper
-  1/4 Red Onion
-  3 Garlic Cloves
-  1 tbsp Flax Seed
-  2 tbsp Hemp Seed
-  1 tsp of each of the Dynamic Duo
-  Handful of fresh Cilantro
-  3 tbsp Panko Bread Crumbs + some extra

Directions: Serves 4

-  Drain and rinse the beans, mash them with a spoon.  Do NOT put it in the food processor as it will get the beans too soft.  Mix in the dynamic duo
-  Chop red onion and red bell pepper, place them in the food processor with garlic and cilantro
-  Combine mashed beans, onion and bell pepper mixture and bread crumbs
-  Divide mixture into 4 parts
-  Form Patties and cover both sides with a little bread crumb
-  Pre-heat oven to 500° broil, sprinkle olive oil on a aluminum foil, place the patties on the foil and bake for 5 min on each side

These look fantastic. I always try to make my own veggie burgers instead of buying packaged ones — these might need to go on the menu soon.

My hero…we just ran out of Dr. Praeger burgers (tragedy!) and I needed a recipe for homemade burgers. Great timing!

Nice recipe and a nice site. I’ve been getting requests to go a little healthier on my blog by some of my co-workers. Some are vegetarians, some are gluten free, and many are just trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My daughter has IBS also. I added your site to my blog list. I may not give up all the comfort foods I crave, but I sense a slight change in direction. Thanks!

I really want to make these – I’m assuming a can of beans for you is 15 oz? Our standard size here is 19.
