2010 BP MS-150, April 17-18

April 15th, 2010 , Nutritious Foodie

My Houstonian friends (bloggers and NON bloggers) don’t forget that I am giving away a chance to attend the Taste of Nation- Houston a charity event to end childhood hunger.

Well my friends, the BP MS-150 is this weekend. I have to be honest and tell you that when I first started training for it the idea of riding 20 miles scared me… but halfway through the trainings I realized 20 miles is really nothing… its not even worth stopping for a rest stop in the first 20 miles.

I have to admit that I still can’t blieve I won’t be riding my bike this weekend :(

The good news is as of today, Raymond and I together have raised $1625 –  Once again Thank you all for your support.

As I mentioned before I will be volunteering for the event instead, so I still get to hang out wiht all of my friends who are riding.  I also get to meet Kelly on Sunday for a fun day in Austin :)
I will write a full re-cap of the weekend Sunday night or Monday, depending on how things go.  I bought 3 boxes of Brownies.. so I am baking brownies right now to take with me since we a lot of our friends are riding this weekend, I figured they would all appreciate a little extra snack :)

As for my eats, I have been feeling weird lately, I wake up completely full and then at about 9-10 I feel starving.   I really need to push myself back on a schedule.. this breakfast at 9 lunch at 2 and dinner at 7 schedule is not really working for me.

I wasn’t a very good eater today, I had 3 slices of veggie pizza at a meeting and a slice of cake.  oops.   I really need to be careful specially now that I don’t get to go to the gym everyday because of my knee.

The surgery is scheduled for April 30 and I get to get back on my bike on June 1st.  I have been looking online to find rides for the memorial day weekend that I can participate in.  :)

Dinner was very satisfying, brown rice with sautéed veggies and raw tomato and red cabbage with a side of steamed kale and creamy avocado dressing.

Creamy Avocado Dressing:

-  0.5 Avocado
-  Juice of Half of a lime
-  1/4 of Jalapeño
-  Salt and pepper to taste

– Put everything in the food processor and blend until creamy :)

We have a busy day tomorrow to get ready for Raymond’s long ride.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I hate that you can’t ride. At least you’ve still raised money though. I am so sorry you have to have surgery for your knee. At least it doesn’t sound like you’ll have to be out of commission too long though. HUGS!

Veggie pizza isn’t a bad thing at all! And you’ll be back on your bike before you know it. I am crossing my fingers that your surgery goes well.

Have a great night making brownies!!

You are going to have a blast tomorrow, and like I said on twitter: there will be other races. ;) I would be a little sad too though!

This rest is good for you, and just think: would you rather do this race and be injured for even longer? I have a friend who pushes through her injuries, and they don’t go away as a result of this. Rest is good in the long run. I know you know all of this, but sometimes it helps to hear (or read) it over and over again. :)

That avocado dressing looks so simple and delicious!

Wishing you and Raymond a great ride and experience this weekend :) You’ll get some great rides this summer! I wouldn’t worry too much about your eating because you always have such great eats all the time anyways, your body will let you know to adjust accordingly. mmm that avocado dressing sounds wonderful. We loved your banana bread and I have a bunch of super ripe naners ready for another batch :)

Try this for a “sauce” or 1 tablespoon miso, 1/4 avocado, 1 tble spoon flax, 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar,2 tsp dried basil, salt and pepper….only serves 1! But is it DELISH!
